On April 18, 2017, MARS Society Bangladesh has organized a seminar titled “The Martian Dream Representing Bangladesh” at AIUB, EEE Seminar Room-266, FE Building, Campus-2.
The seminar on “The Martian Dream Representing Bangladesh” arranged by ESAB AIUB Unit Face. The purpose of the workshop was to encourage engineering students who are supposed to participate in the URC competition. Also to provide basic information, ideas, and necessary follow-ups so that it can be helpful for the students during their competition.
The seminar started with the national anthem followed by a brief promo video which demonstrates the main focus on MARS Society-Bangladesh’s aim, vision, and activities.
Dr. A.B.M Siddique Hossain, Professor & Dean, Faculty of Engineering American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) provided the inaugural speech enhancing the fact to learn and gave much information on this regards.
Then Md. Mahfuzur Rahman (Former Team Leader, ARC-2016, AIUB) took the floor and gave an introduction to MARS Society-Bangladesh. Mars Society-Bangladesh is an international organization that is the world’s largest and most influential space advocacy organization dedicated to the human exploration and settlement of the planet Mars.
Among all other activities “The Rover Challenge Series” is the most interesting one where engineering students from every corner of the world take part. This year six universities of Bangladesh got the opportunity to send teams to perform on the international platform. Our honorable speaker also introduced MARS Society-Bangladesh to the audience. He added that by organizing an inaugural meeting at the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka by a group of university students belonging to the Engineering Students Association of Bangladesh (ESAB) MARS Society’s Bangladesh chapter started. At the end he spoke about the visa fact, airport interview techniques, form fill-up procedure, hotel, and vehicle booking criteria and many more necessary points so that students going to competition should not face any problem. Advising students to be confident and punctual for each task he ended up his speech.
Afterward, Khaled Bin Moinuddin (Former Team Leader Interplanetor, BUET) shared his own experiences with the audience and spoke about the overall management system. His speech also included the necessity of proper documentation of papers (passport photocopy, permission letter, receipts, air tickets, etc.), travel plans, and team collaboration.
Our third honorable speaker, Dr. Md. Khalilur Rhaman, Associate Professor, Dept. of CSE, BRAC University encouraged students immensely to act as one Bangladeshi team and try hard to make Bangladesh proud. His inspirational speech encouraged them to stay united and be helpful to each other. From his own experiences participants got a clear vision of the URC competition.
In the end our respected faculty Mr. Ebad Zahir, Senior Assistant Professor, Dept. Of EEE & CoE Special Assistant, Dept. Of EEE & CoE took the floor and gave tips to the participants to attain success. His speech mostly covered the importance of unity, honesty, brotherhood, hard work, and practice which are must during their abroad stay for competition.
MD. Arif Raihan Maahi (Founder Member of EIC, President of MARS SOCIETY –BANGLADESH) provided the ending speech. He spoke about the current corporate field and job opportunities in Bangladesh. He advised students to render their work for their own nation’s prosperity and wished them luck for the future.
Students responded very well throughout the session with great enthusiasm. Participants from the selected universities attended the seminar and got the vision of URC and its preparation procedure.
At the end of the ceremony our honorable speaker Ebad Zahir provided a little token of appreciation to our respected speakers with a huge round of applause.
The entire ceremony was hosted by ESAB-AIUB Unit Face member Sumiya Fatema Keya. Face members and all organizing and working members of ESAB attended the ceremony.
